This study analyzes changes in key issues related to digital transformation and employment, examining the impact of technological innovation on the labor market. Technological advancements from factory automation in the 1990s to current artificial intelligence (AI) have raised concerns about job displacement and occupational stability. This research examines the impact of digital transformation on the labor market by analyzing media coverage from October 2009 to May 2024. Using the BigKinds platform, 74,609 articles were collected based on keywords such as ‘digital transformation,’ ‘ICT,’ ‘AI,’ ‘smart factory,’ and ‘job displacement.’ Text mining techniques identified trends and changes in employment-related topics over three periods: the emergence of smart devices (2009), the initiation of South Korea’s smart factory support project (2014), and the rise of generative AI (2020). The findings reveal how technological innovation influenced job types and employment structures, transitioning from concerns about job displacement to opportunities for high-value job creation. This study provides insights into societal perceptions of employment changes and offers foundational data for policy development in the evolving labor market.
본 연구는 디지털 전환과 고용에 대한 주요 이슈들의 변화를 분석하고, 기술혁신이 고용 시장에 미치는 영향을 고찰한다. 1990년대 공장 자동화에서 시작해 현재의 인공지능(AI)으로 이어지는 기술 발전은 일자리 대체와 직업 안정성에 대한 우려를 제기해왔다. 이 연구는 2009년 10월부터 2024년 5월까지의 언론보도를 분석하여 디지털 전환이 고용에 미친 영향을 평가한다. 한국언론진흥재단이 개발한 빅카인즈(BigKinds) 플랫폼을 활용해 ‘디지털 전환’, ‘ICT’, ‘AI’, ‘스마트공장’, ‘일자리 대체’, ‘취업’, ‘진로’, ‘고용’ 등의 키워드를 중심으로 74,609건의 기사 데이터를 수집하였고, 텍스트 마이닝을 통해 키워드의 시기별 변화와 경향을 분석했다. 분석은 스마트 디바이스 등장(2009 년), 스마트공장 지원사업 시작(2014년), 생성형 AI 등장(2020년)을 기준으로 세 시기로 구분하였다. 연구 결과, 기술혁신이 일자리 유형과 고용 구조에 미친 영향을 확인하였으며, 초기의 일자리 대체 우려에서 고부가가치 일자리 창출로 전환되는 과정을 밝혔다. 본 연구는 고용 변화에 대한 사회적 인식을 이해하고 미래 노동 시장 및 취업 정책 수립에 기초 자료를 제공한다.
